Here are 10 self-development books that you NEED to read before heading into the New Year. I know reading all 10 would be a luxury for us busy ladies, so pick the one that is most relevant to where you are in life and what you want to accomplish next year.

This book has changed my life! My husband bought it for me for Christmas last year. I have a hard copy and I also own it on Audible. I’ve listened to it at least 5 times!
This book is perfect for the woman who needs a boost in her confidence to go after what she wants in life. Your dreams don’t have to be business-oriented (like running your own business) or even big. It can be something as small as learning how to grow the “perfect tulip” as Jen Sincero explains in this book. The point is that your focus is to go after whatever makes you happy.
There are so many gems of wisdom in this book. I guarantee you’ll have a bunch of a-ha moments as you listen to or read this.
Can I just tell you that I LOVE Rachel Hollis? My husband is probably so sick of hearing me rave about her (sorry Husby if you’re reading this!). I literally just discovered her 2 months ago after deciding to finally read Girl, Wash Your Face. And oh boy, what a read!
This book is perfect for the woman who needs to reframe how she thinks. Each chapter in this book is focused on a common lie that Rachel used to tell herself, and that we women in general tend to tell ourselves. To give you an idea, the first chapter is titled “The Lie: Something else will make me happy”. She then goes on to illustrate how this is a lie and how to think differently.
Rachel will draw you in with her colorful storytelling. She gets so incredibly personal in this book that you cannot help but relate to her. Girl, Wash Your Face will make you laugh, cry, and most importantly, it will inspire you to change for the better.
Don’t let the published date of this book make you think its out of touch (it was originally published in 1936). It was WAY ahead of it’s time. I picked up this book from an actual bookstore (remember those?) about 10 years ago when I was really struggling with anxiety.
It was just what I needed. I keep this book in the top drawer of my nightstand and refer to it whenever I need a reminder to stop worrying.
This book is perfect for the woman who is constantly worrying about seemingly everything! This book is like a kick in the butt in the best way possible. It will make you see how much you actually worry, why it’s bad and why you need to stop, and then how to actually do it.
Trust me friend, the advice that is given is priceless and it WORKS.
My manager at my very first job out of college recommended this book to me. I loved it so much that I printed out the The Four Agreements and posted it on my wall at work so that I would never forget them.

This book isn’t for women who aren’t into spiritual teachers or ancient wisdom. I don’t know if Don Miguel Ruiz is looked at as a spiritual teacher, but that’s how I view him. Also, this book is based upon the teachings of an ancient people named the Toltecs.
This book is a quick read, but full of wisdom.

This book is perfect for the woman who doesn’t mind “woo woo”-type reads and who needs inspiration to believe that obtaining what she wants, no matter how crazy it may seem, is totally possible.

I originally bought this book to become better at organization and tidying up. I’ll be honest, I still need a lot of work in those departments! But what I got from this book was something that I didn’t expect.

Napoleon Hill outlines every single trait a person needs in order to achieve success. And if you actually follow the advice given in this book, you are guaranteed to succeed!
